The Osun State government has begun the
construction of access roads to six farm settlements in order to ease
movement of farm produce from the hinterlands to urban settlements.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture
and Food Security, Mr. Festus Agunbiade, stated this at the Esa-Oke farm
settlement on Wednesday, while inaugurating six farmer cooperative
groups.
Agunbiade said the construction of the access roads
would enable farmers transport their produce to markets without
difficulty, adding that “farming is witnessing a new era in Osun.”
He said the roads were being constructed by the Osun
Rural Access and Mobility Project, adding that the six inaugurated
farmer cooperative groups would be paid by the government to maintain
the roads.
