Petrominerales points to Mambo oil find

Canada’s Petrominerales has said it discovered oil with its Mambo-1 well in the Corcel Block of Colombia’s Deep Llanos Basin.
The Colombia- and Peru-focused outfit said the probe, drilled to a total measured depth of 11,875 feet on August 23, had well logs indicating 13 feet of potential net oil pay in the Lower Sand 1 formation, according to upstreamonline.com.
After casing, the well initially production tested at an average of 1890 barrels of 23 degree API oil over a 59-hour test period averaging a 36 per cent water cut.
It is currently producing 839 barrels of oil per day at a 73 per cent water cut, according to the explorer.
The Calgary-headquartered company had less luck with its Guarana-1 probe in the same basin, which yielded only water and trace amounts of heavy oil.
Drilling is now underway on the Maya-1 in the same area.
In Peru’s block 126, the company said that well logs for its Sheshea-1X probe, which was drilled to a total measured depth of 8925 feet on 9 September, indicate 24 feet of potential net oil pay in the Copacabana and Agua Caliente formations.
Petrominerales plans to test up to three intervals at the site, with results due next month.
