DStv boosts mobile entertainment

Riding on the trend that entertainment is going mobile, DStv has unveiled two mobile devices, the iDrifta and Walka 7, to further enhance entertainment on its platform.
The General Manager, DStv Mobile Nigeria, Mr. Mayo Okunola, said the new iDrifta was a plug and play mobile digital video broadcasting handheld receiver that allowed users with Apple devices to enjoy great entertainment on DStv Mobile.
The devices, according to him, will build on the ongoing success of the Drifta, Drifta USB and Walka.
Okunola, who said the devices were compatible with the iPod 4, iPhone and iPad, stressed that the iDrifta was simple and intuitive to use.
“This means that viewers with Apple mobile devices can now access our full range of channels anywhere and anytime. After plugging it into your iOS device, the iDrifta device redirects the user directly to the DStv Mobile application on the Apple store and the user only needs to download it for free to start watching their favourite programmes,” he said.
In addition to the iDrifta, the company also unveiled the Walka 7, a portable television with enhanced visual quality designed to satisfy the growing demand of mobile TV subscribers in the country.
Okunola explained that the device came with a seven-inch screen that could be customised to four aspect ratio settings to optimise viewing experience.
The new device, he said, had a six-hour battery life, good sound quality and exciting channels in the area of sport, music, general entertainment and children’s programmes.
“The move to launch in Nigeria first was to satisfy the growing appetite for mobile TV in the Nigerian market,”
