Use ICT tools to deliver service to public’

Lagos State Government has asked officers of the state civil service to effectively deploy and use Information and Computer Technology tools to deliver services to the public.
Director-General of the state Public Service Staff Development Centre, Mrs. Olubunmi Fabamwo, said this during the closing of a four-day workshop on Technical Report Writing and ICT for Effective Service Delivery in Lagos on Saturday.
Participants of the training were drawn from Lagos and Ekiti states public service.
Fabamwo said, “As the world changes into a global village, the public service cannot be isolated. There is the need for the effective deployment and use of ICT productivity tools among public servants.
“For us in Lagos State, the challenges are greater because of the aspirations of our government to make Lagos Africa’s model mega city.
“Effective service delivery today requires that government uses ICT to provide significant value adding services that are timely and cost-effective.
“One of the major challenges before us as officers of the state public service therefore is that we must be able to use ICT tools to deliver services to the public.”
She said it was with a view of empowering public service officers in the delivery of quality services to the teeming population of the state that the centre had put the four-day course together.
She added that the overall objective was to expose participants to the use of ICT in government business
